New ASIC Resource Helps Directors Stay Across Their Obligations
Liz Gibbs • September 9, 2026

A free, one-stop resource for understanding your responsibilities at every stage of running a company

I wanted to share something I came across this week that I think could be genuinely helpful for many of you navigating the complexities of being a company director. ASIC has just launched a new online resource called the 'Small Business Director Essentials hub'.

This hub aims to be a single, clear place for directors to access practical guidance, learning modules, and tools to understand and meet their obligations. As ASIC Commissioner Kate O’Rourke put it, it’s designed to help directors with their responsibilities.

It includes guidance tailored to key stages of the director journey, from planning and setting up a company through to operating, restructuring or closing the business. This means you can find a roadmap to help you navigate your obligations at any stage.

They've also included practical guidance for important situations, such as responding to financial difficulty, and free online learning modules you can complete at your own pace.

It looks like a solid resource for staying on top of your obligations without feeling overwhelmed. Take a look when you have a moment, and let me know if you have any questions about how it might apply to your specific situation.
